About Dr. Crandall and Dr. Kaplan
Dr. Crandall and Dr. Kaplan appreciate you considering their

Dr. Crandall is an
Ophthalmologist, an M.D. surgeon, who is able to treat all medical
and surgical eye problems. She has extra training in Pediatric
Ophthalmology. Procedures she performs include cataract,
strabismus, glaucoma, laser and plastic surgeries. Dr. Crandall
received her undergraduate degrees from Memphis State University
and Florida State University. Her medical degree is from the
University of Florida. Her Ophthalmology residency was done at the
University of Kansas. She has practiced in Fort Myers since
1982.

Dr. Kaplan moved to
southwest Florida in 2002, joining the practice of Dr. Crandall
& Associates, located in Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Bonita Springs
and LaBelle. She completed her undergraduate studies at North
Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C., graduating summa cum
laude with a bachelor's of science degree in Biochemistry in 1996.
She attended optometry school at Nova Southeastern University in
Ft. Lauderdale, Fl, graduating with honors in 2001. During her
studies, she received the Heine award of Excellence in Optics and
the William Feinbloom Low Vision Award. Dr. Kaplan further pursued
her low vision specialty interest by completing a year residency at
the State University of New York College of Optometry and
Lighthouse International in New York City, just prior to her return
to Florida.
Dr. Kaplan specializes in low vision therapy and has a large
patient base of people affected by macular degeneration. She is
licensed in both Florida and New York. She is an active member of
the Southwest Florida Optometric Association and the American
Optometric Association. She and her husband, Dr. Stuart Kaplan, are
happy to now call Fort Myers home and look forward to soon starting
a family in their new home. They both enjoy scuba diving, road
biking, and stained glass art creation.
